Everything lyrics by Michael Bublé

You're a falling star, you're the get away car.
You're the line in the sand when I go too far.
You're the swimming pool, on an August day.
And you're the perfect thing to say.
And you play it coy, but it's kinda cute.
Ah, when you smile at me you know exactly what you do.
Baby don't pretend, that you don't know it's true.
Cause you can see it when I look at you.

[Chorus:]
And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times
It's you, it's you, you make me sing.
You're every line, you're every word, you're everything.
You're a carousel, you're a wishing well,
And you light me up, when you ring my bell.
You're a mystery, you're from outer space,
You're every minute of my everyday.
And I can't believe, uh that I'm your man,
And I get to kiss you baby just because I can.
Whatever comes our way, ah we'll see it through,
And you know that's what our love can do.

[Chorus:]
And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times
It's you, it's you, you make me sing
You're every line, you're every word, you're everything.
So, la, la, la, la, la, la, la
So, la, la, la, la, la, la, la

[Chorus:]And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times
It's you, it's you, you make me sing.
You're every line, you're every word, you're everything.
You're every song, and I sing along.
'Cause you're my everything.
Yeah, yeah
So, la, la, la, la, la, la, la
So, la, la, la, la, la, la, la

Analysis

Michael Bublé, the multi-platinum jazz/swing singer, grew up near Vancouver, Canada. He was first introduced to swing music and old standards by his grandfather, who offered his services for free as a professional plumber to musicians who were willing to let Michael sing a couple of songs with them on stage. Bublé finally got his big break for show business after the former Prime Minster of Canada, Brian Mulroney, discovered his music . Just before Bublé was about to give up in his career, a music producer named David Foster, heard his work on a cd given to him by the Prime Minister. And since then, Michael Bublé, has taken a part in the very soul of jazz/sway music. He has sold a total of 20 million albums as of 2007 and 8 million of them in the U.S. alone.

On of his most beloved songs, "Everything" has made the hearts of his fans melt.
This song "Everything" uses many poetic devices, such as imagery&Local color. For example, in the very beginning of the song in lines 3-6, "You're the swimming pool, on an August day, And your the perfect thing to say, And you play it coy, but its kind of cute, When you smile at me you know exactly what you do." Bublé also uses multiple uses of romance, seen in lines 9-11, "And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times, its you its you, you make me sing, Your every line your every word, your everything." Also found in lines 16-19, "And I can't believe that, uh I'm your man, And I get to kiss you baby just cause I can, Whatever comes our way we'll see it through, and you know that's what our love can do,". Lastly, there is many many uses of metaphores in this song, as seen in lines 1-4, "You're a falling star, you're the get away car; You're the line in the sand when I go to far; You're the swimming pool on an August day; And you're the perfect thing to say". There is also a few usages of archetype(s) as seen in line 9, "And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times," indicated that it is happening in the present.

So all-in-all Michael Bublé's "Everything" most definitely is everything, at least everything perfect in a relationship. Not only do the lyrics make the song, but so does Bublé's voice, some would call it 'memorizing' and he is frequently compared to the all time, jazz/sway/pop artist Frank Sinatra. Just one thing to ask, can you handle everything?

Song Analysis

Mixtape lyrics by Butch Walker!!! :D
You say hello, inside
I'm screaming I love you
You say goodnight, in my mind
I'm sleeping next to you
You drive away from my car crash of a heart
And I don't know
But you gave me the best mixtape I have
And even all the bad songs ain't so bad
I just wish there was so much more than that
About me and you
You talk to him, and it burns me like the sun
You talk to her, and you say that you feel like he's the one
I talk to me, but you can't hear the pain I feel
You don't know
Cause you gave me the best mixtape I have
And even all the sad songs ain't so sad
I only wish that there was more than that
About me and you

[Bridge]Oh, don't turn around and say bye again
Yeah it crushes my head when you call me
Your friend and I'm not the same person
From back in the day in the back of the class
That you thought was gay
No I can't find the words cause I lost them
The minute they fell out of my mouth
And it's love and I'm in it, so give me your lips
And just let me kiss 'em
And let's get messed up and listen to probably...
The best mixtape I have
And even all the bad songs ain't so bad
I just wish there was so much more than that
About me and you
About me and you
About me and you
About me and you
About me and you
About me and you

Analysis

Along with some of the out coming artists, there is the phenomenal Butch Walker. Butfch not only writes and composes his own songs, but does so for other bands and artists, and he records other artists as well. He first started off as the lead singer of the rock band "Marvelous 3". After the breakup, in early 2000, Butch decieded to go on in the music buisness on his own. releasing the albums "Left of Self-Centered" in 2002 on Epic Records and the critically acclaimed "Letters" in 2004 on Sony Records. Several of his songs have been major hits for other artists, including Bowling for Soup's "Girl All the Bad Guys Want" and Avril Lavigne's "Don't Tell Me" and her #1 song "My Happy Ending." He has produced albums for such artists as Bowling for Soup, Avril Lavigne, The Donnas, Sevendust and 'SR-71', and has also toured with such acts as Lit and Avril Lavigne.

This song, one of his more popular songs, "Mixtape", shows many poetic uses throughout the entire song. One of the poetic devices used is imagery, as seen in lines 1-4 "You say hello, Inside I'm screaming I love you, You say goodnight, in my mind I'm sleeping next to you". It gives you the image of someone feeling so much for one person they feel as if they are screaming on the inside. Also, in line 11, "You talk to him, and it burns me like the sun", he shows his pain by comparing it to the sun scorching him. That also can be used as a sense of hyperbole, or an extreme exaggeration. Other hyperbole's are found in lines 20&21, "Yeah it crushes my head when you call me your friend". This is because it doesn't really crush his head, more of really erratas him. Lastly, the song also has many uses of point of view(s). For examples in lines 23&24, "That you though was gay, No I cant find the words cause im lost in the minute" it changes from his lovers point of view, to his own. Lastly, one other use of a poetic device is in the same lines of 23&24, Butch chose to say "cause" instead of "because" and this is an example of diction used throughout the song.

All in all, Butch Walker is a great example of a true talented artist. He not only writes and composes his own songs, but other artists as well. He has realeased over 4 of his own albums and help compose the following albums:

Dave Matthews Band, a band of great inspiration in the rock genre of the present day. The band con sits of; Dave Matthews, Carter Beauford, Stefan Lessard, Boyd Tinsley, and the recently deceased LeRoi Moore. Two of their most well-known songs are "Satellite" and "The Dreaming Tree". Both of these songs are insperational in their own way, and the diction used with in them corresponds to the time period of which it was made (21st Century). Diction, is as definition of Mr. Kefor, a choosing of words by the writers own view. To go along with that genral idea, both of the songs "Satellite" and "The Dreaming Tree" have both of their own uses of diction.

The song "Satellite" is about a 'satellite' looking down from space, peering upon the Earth. Clearly has many uses of diction, to go along with the catchy, slow and relaxing music to go along with it. As found in lines 4-6, "Satellite strung from the moon, And the world your balloon. Peeping Tom for the mother station." & lines 7-10 "Winter's cold, Spring erases, And the calm away by the storm is chasen, Everything good needs replacing, Look up, look down all around, hey satellite." Those lines indicate the useage of 'imagery' and frequently jumps from scene to scene. The song also switches perspectives, in lines 11-16, "Satellite headlines read, Someone's secrets you've seen, Eyes and ears have been, Satellite dish in my yard, Tell me more, tell me more, Who's the king of your satellite castle?" The view switches from the Satellite's view(Satellite headlines read, Someone's secrets you've seen), to the singers view(Tell me more, tell me more), and back to the Satellite's(Who's the king of your Satellite castle? Lastly, the song also has uses hyperbole's, or extreme exaggerations. As seen in line 22, "Rest high above the clouds; no restriction," which of course is in reality impossible, due to its attraction to the Earth's atmosphere it does have restrictions.

Next, the song "The Dreaming Tree" by Dave Matthews Band, also has it's own distinct uses of diction. It has uses of imagery throughout the song, as seen in lines 21-25, "The air is growing thick, A fear he cannot hide, The dreaming tree has died." Also in lines 1-5, "Standing here, The old man said to me, Long before these crowded streets, Here stood my dreaming tree, Below it he would sit." It also has many uses of hyperbole(s), or extreme exaggerations. As seen in lines 8-9, "And now he's falling hard He feels the falling dark."

All-in-all Dave Matthews Band uses their own special ways of diction. Not only does it switch from song to song and from the differencies of beats, they always conquere their own work. Dave Matthews is truely a supurb band.

Diction

Dave Matthews Band
{Satellite}
Satellite in my eyes
Like a diamond in the sky
How I wonder.
Satellite strung from the moon
And the world your balloon
Peeping tom for the mother station
Winter's cold spring erases
And the calm away by the storm is chasing
Everything good needs replacing
Look up, look down all around, hey satellite
Satellite, headlines read
Someone's secrets you've seen
Eyes and ears have been
Satellite dish in my yard
Tell me more, tell me more
Who's the king of your satellite castle?
Winter's cold spring erases
And the calm away by the storm is chasing
Everything good needs replacing
Look up, look down all around, hey satellite
Rest high above the clouds no resrictions
Television we bounce 'round the world
And while I spend these hours
Five senses reeling,
I laugh about the weatherman's satellite eyes.
Satellite in my eyes
Like a diamond in the sky
How i wonder.
Satellite strung from the moon
And the world your balloon
Peeping tom for the mother station
Winter's cold spring erases
And the calm away by the storm is chasing
Everything good needs replacing
Look up, look down all around, hey satellite
Rest high above the clouds no restrictions
Television you bounce from the world
And while I spend these hours
Five senses reelingI laugh about this weatherman's satellite eyes.

The Dreaming Tree
Standing here
The old man said to me,
"Long before these crowded streets
Here stood my dreaming tree."
Below it he would sitFor hours at a time
Now progress takes away
What forever took to find
And now he's falling hard
He feels the falling dark
How he longs to be
Beneath his dreaming tree
Conquered fear to climb
A moment froze in time
When the girl who first he kissed
Promised him she'd be his
Remembered mother's words
There beneath the tree"
No matter what the world
You'll always be my baby."
"Mommy come quick,
The dreaming tree has died."
The air is growing thick
A fear he cannot hide
The dreaming tree has died
Oh, have you no pity?
This thing I do
I do not deny it
All through this smile
As crooked as danger
I do not denyI know in my mind
I would leave you now
If I had the strength to
I would leave you up
To your own devices
Will you not talk?
Can you take pity?
I don't ask much
But won't you speak, please?
From the start
She knew she had it made
Easy up 'til then
For sure she'd make the grade
Adorers came in hordes
To lay down in her wake
Gave it all she had
But treasures slowly fade
Now she's falling hard
Feels the fall of dark
How did this fall apart?
She drinks to fill it up
A smile of sweetest flowers
Wilted so and soured
Black tears stain the cheeks
That once were so admired
She thinks when she was small
There on her father's knee
How he had promised her,
"You'll always be my baby."
"Daddy come quick,
The dreaming tree has died
I can't find my way home
There is no place to hide
The dreaming tree has died.
"Oh, if I had the strength to
I would leave you up
To your own devices
Will you not talk?
Can you take pity?
I don't ask much
But won't you speak, please?
Take me back, take me back, take me back...Save me please.
